GPS and metadata
In short: every photo a client gets has no location (GPS). We do it on the fly, in the copy we send; your stored original is not changed. Nothing to turn on.
What the client gets, by format
Section titled “What the client gets, by format”| Client’s file | Location (GPS) | Other metadata |
|---|---|---|
| For phone and social media (2048 px JPEG) | none | none (only the capture date, if Keep the gallery order is on) |
| JPEG original | removed | camera, lens, serial numbers, copyright, XMP and IPTC removed too; dates, orientation and colour space stay |
| HEIC or PNG original | removed | XMP removed; camera and lens details stay |
| WebP original | removed | Exif and XMP removed |
Pixels are never touched: the original stays full quality.
If we can’t read a file’s metadata safely, the client gets its 2048 px JPEG instead of the original — never a file with its location.
What we don’t change
Section titled “What we don’t change”- Your original in storage. When you open or download it in the cabinet, it is exactly as uploaded.
- Pixels, colour profile and image size of the original.
Before you upload
Section titled “Before you upload”Want no camera details in HEIC or PNG either? Turn off location and strip metadata when you export from your editor — that is the only way to remove it from the stored original too.
