Interrupted uploads and processing errors

In short: a stopped upload continues from where it stopped — drop the same file again in the same browser. A photo marked Failed is fixed with Retry.

The upload stopped (tab closed, connection lost)

Section titled “The upload stopped (tab closed, connection lost)”

Short network drops are retried on their own. If the tab was closed or the computer went to sleep:

  1. Open the gallery in the same browser on the same computer. You will see Unfinished uploads: N. Drop the same file to continue.
  2. Drag the same files onto the upload zone again. They continue from the part already uploaded.

Another browser or computer doesn’t know about the unfinished upload: there the file uploads from the start.

The list under the progress bar names each file and the reason. Click Retry to send it again, or close the line. Common reasons:

  • Only JPEG, PNG, HEIC and WEBP are supported. Export the file in one of these formats. See Supported files and limits.
  • The file is larger than 200 MB. Export it smaller (for example, a higher-compression JPEG).

The file uploaded, but we couldn’t make its previews (usually a damaged or unusual file).

  1. Click Retry on the photo. It is removed and uploaded again; if the browser no longer has the file, choose it from your computer.
  2. Still failing? Open the file on your computer and export it again as JPEG, then upload that copy.

You’ll also get a notification, and the home page shows Photos that failed to process with Review.
