Ordering photos: drag, sort, “To start”

In short: select photos and drag them; a line shows where they will land. The client sees the same order. The order saves at once. Reordering works on a computer.

Selecting works like Finder:

  • Click — only this photo. ⌘/Ctrl + click — add or remove one.
  • Shift + click — everything between the last clicked photo and this one.
  • Frame — drag the mouse from an empty spot between photos.
  • Esc — clear the selection.

The bar at the bottom shows Selected: N.

A click only selects. To see a photo full screen, double-click it, press Space on a selected photo, or click the small expand button in the corner of the tile (it shows on hover). On a phone, a tap opens the photo and a long press selects it; once something is selected, a tap adds to the selection.

In the preview, ← / → or a swipe go to the previous / next photo, Esc closes it. Under the photo you see its number and file name, for example №3 · IMG_1002.JPG. Move to… and Delete work on this one photo.

  1. Grab any selected photo and drag. The whole selection moves together, keeping its order.
  2. A vertical line between photos shows where they will land. Near the top or bottom of the window the page scrolls.
  3. Drop. You’ll see N photos moved to positions X–Y. The selection stays, so you can move it again.

Or use the bar at the bottom: To start and To end (also ⌘/Ctrl + ↑ / ↓).

With the keyboard: arrows move between photos, Alt + arrows move a photo, Space selects (and opens a selected photo).

  1. Click Sort above the grid.
  2. Choose File name (A → Z or Z → A), Upload date or Capture date (oldest or newest first).
  3. Confirm with Sort. Your manual order is replaced; after that you can drag photos again.

Sorting is a one-time action, not a setting: new photos still go to the end.

Capture date comes from the photo’s EXIF (the time the camera recorded), so shots line up even when the camera’s counter wrapped (DSCF9998 → DSCF0001) or two cameras were used. Only JPEGs carry it; photos without it (HEIC, PNG, WebP, screenshots, files with stripped metadata) go to the end by name, and equal times go by name too. If the camera clock was never set, the order follows it.

Clicking a section in the row above the grid shows only its photos: order them there. To move photos to another section, drag them onto it in that row or use Move to… on the bottom bar. See Sections and private sections.
